2/29/2024 0 Comments At funky biscuitWe both are wine collectors and I got the corkage fee waived in Louie Bossi's, so it's a win-win for us and the restaurant since our bills are always $200+ and we add the "corkage" into the server's tip. ![]() We went to Louie Bossi's Ristorante with a good friend and his wife that live in Boca for a wine-dinner. This time we changed our routine completely. We have always come for the early show and eaten here, their menu is not fancy but we always find a couple of appetizers, then I normally get the Mahi-mahi and we finish with their famous Funky-Biscuit as desert. Over the years the lighting and sound have improved big time, the service has fluctuated significantly, prior-COVID it was a team and after-COVID they are still finding the right-TEAM. MoreĪs I mentioned in my previous review, I have been coming to The Funky Biscuit for over 10 years, at least 2 times every year and I don't do it more often because I live in Miami and it requires a 2+ hours drive and. However, the band came out strong right from first tune, and Billy played two drum solos, so I did not feel cheated.Īll-in-all, a thumbs-up first impression. A bit skimpy on showtime but possibly because there was a second show scheduled for 9:00. The 6pm show started at 6:25 and ended at 7:30. These irritations are not surprising among self-absorbed upscale South Florida residents. Also, there was nonstop talking from tables on raised area in back of room. Fortunately, the music drowned out their chat (mostly) but I got up twice to do standing room in order to see/hear better. They didn’t know, and didn’t care, what artist was performing. They sat with backs to stage, watching sports on TV and chatting throughout concert. A young couple, he, obviously a relative of owner, came in just before music started. Next trip I should try one of the biscuit plates…considering the name of the place.Ĭaveats: the first four seats inside of door (great seats to see stage, btw) were controlled by owner/mgr. Two good-sized pretzels were served hotĪnd buttery w/ sides of dipping mustard & cheese…excellent. ![]() An excellent seat close to stage to see/hear music (please see caveat at end).ĭecent craft beer on tap and large liquor selection (did not check wine list).įood: I had one order of pub pretzels. My seat was about five stools in from entrance at Main Bar. Two bar seatings: Main Bar just inside door close to stage (Stage Left in theatre-talk) and a smaller Premium Bar across room (Stage R). Round tables for four (maybe more) behind them on main floor, and then more tables on raised area in back of room. There are small tables directly in front of stage, good for two people looking to be on top of the action. a small to medium-sized room with good sight and sound. The venue is in an upscale shopping plaza near Boca’s main street. The sight lines and sound mix were excellent. I went to hear Billy Cobham, one of the greatest drummers ever, who at age 78 did not disappoint nor did his bandmates.
